November Third Sunday Meeting

  • 11/15/2026
  • 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
  • PSCC, Hardin Valley Rd. Haslam Bldg. Rm 1017

This discussion, guided by Professor Shaw of UTK's Department of Philosophy, will explore varieties of skepticism in ancient philosophy and how they may bear upon contemporary discourse surrounding religion and related matters. Drawing from traditions of distant yore, the talk will consider how questions of knowledge, uncertainty, and warranted belief might help clarify modern disagreements, including matters commonly treated as religious whether or not that association is itself philosophically warranted. In doing so, it will invite consideration of what perspectives from antiquity may yet contribute to how we distinguish, frame, and reason through such questions today.

We meet in Room 1017 of the Haslam Math and Science Building of the Hardin Valley Campus of PSCC.

For those who wish to join the meeting via Zoom, the link will be provided in the the announcement emails and the newsletter.
