On Tuesday, Sept. 14th, our program will be on “The Nature of the Atheist Society of Knoxville and the Rationalists of East Tennessee”. Hosts Larry Rhodes and Faithless Forrest Erickson will introduce these organizations in some depth.
You will learn how many interesting meetings around our area can be attended each week for those wishing to discuss religion, non-religion, atheism, agnosticism, free thought, rationalism, secular humanism, etc., or just get together to share a beverage in a friendly and welcoming setting.
The Atheist Society of Knoxville (ASK) holds “meet-ups” every week at various local eating/drinking establishments, usually on weeknights. But also has movie viewings and other special events scheduled frequently. See www.meetup.com/KnoxvilleAtheists/ for September’s and upcoming events.
The Rationalists of East Tennessee (RET) hold Sunday Morning Meetings on the First and Third Sundays of each month at Pellissippi State Technical Community College, during which there is usually a speaker who presents a program followed by a detailed question and answer periods. On Second Sunday afternoons of each month you can join the Skeptics Book Club at Barnes and Nobles for a lively discussion of interesting books. On Fourth Sunday afternoons the Reflections Dialogue Group meets in members' homes for discussion of social and philosophical topics, plus a hearty potluck complete with full beverage service. For detailed information, please see www.rationalists.org/.
