Big weekend reminder!
- Saturday, May 1st, Potluck Dinner at Marsha Doyle's - 7908 Queenborough Lane to honor our special speaker, Victor Stenger. Please bring a covered dish to share. Festivities start at 6 PM.

- Sunday, May 2nd - Annual public event to be held in the auditorium at Pelissippi State in the Goins Building at 2:00 - 4:00 PM (NOTE SPECIAL TIME!)

Our speaker is Victor J. Stenger, emeritus professor of physics, University of Hawaii, author of the 2007 bestseller "God: the Failed Hypothesis -- How Science Shows that God Does not Exist."

Dinesh D'Souza and Deepak Chopra have claimed that reason and science supply new and persuasive evidence for the afterlife evidence that wasn't there before. They rely on studies of past-life memories, near-death experiences, various paranormal claims, and the notion that quantum mechanics gives reason to believe that consciousness is a separate entity from our bodies and brains, and is thus able to survive death. Stenger will examine this evidence from the point of view of a physicist who has spent forty years studying the fundamental structure of the universe.
