April 6 - Should We Use the Label, "Atheist?"
"Discussion and Analysis of the Ideas Presented by Sam Harris at the September 2007 "Crystal Clear Atheism' Convention" (with accompanying video) - Phil King will be the Discussion Leader. - Sunday, April 6th, 10:30 a.m. (arrive at 10:00 for coffee and fellowship) - Pellissippi State Goins Administration Building, Cafeteria Annex - Also, Children's Program (see below)

Sam Harris made the case that religions are dangerous and that the more moderate sects enable the more dangerous, conservative sects to flourish.

Then he unexpectedly presented ideas that kept the attendees debating the rest of the weekend. He challenged the use of the label, "atheist," (or any other label, for that matter) to define members of our community.

We will play a video of Harris' presentation, pausing it from time to time for our own, open discussion of the ideas he presented.
