TVUUC Sunday Morning Forums
An invitation from RET member Ted Lollis - Sunday, July 15: Forum at 11:15 AM, Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (Room B), 2931 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, phone 865-523-4176.

So long as RET met on Sunday mornings, I spared inviting you all to the Sunday morning "forum" at Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (http://www.tvuuc.org). I chair the TVUUC forum committee, and we devote one hour every Sunday to an ever changing topic ranging from ethics, to history, to psychology, to science, to social action --whatever. (UU's have very diverse interests.) A typical forum combines the presentation of a guest expert with the intelligent discussion of church members and visitors. Suggestions for future topics and presenters are always welcome.

Now that RET meets on Sunday afternoon, RET members should expect me to bring occasional TVUUC forum oportunities to their attention, and I'm starting with next Sunday's forum which will be presented in fact by -- ahh-hemmm -- yours truly. (Believe me -- I won't be recommending one of my own presentations for a long time to come, but it's a fact that I'm presenting this Sunday's forum.) Anybody from RET would be most welcome
to attend (with or without attending the church service at 10:00 am).

Sunday, July 15: Forum at 11:15 AM, Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (Room B), 2931 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, phone 865-523-4176. -- "The Life and Legacy of Mahatma Gandhi." Gandhi is arguably the most important political and religious leader of the 20th Century, but what is his legacy nearly 60 years after his assassination? Ted Lollis researched statues of Gandhi for the article on "peace monuments" around the world which he wrote for the four-volume Oxford International Encyclopedia of Peace. Earlier this years, he and Schera Chadwick sought Gandhi's legacy in eight different cities in India, including six cities in the company of Arun Gandhi, grandson of the Mahatma. Ted has been an army officer, a geologist, a map store owner, a geographic analyst, and a Foreign Service Officer. He has lived and worked in eight foreign countries, most recently as U.S.
Consul General in Bordeaux, France.
