A social session is planned for 11:00 am, followed by a buffet lunch at 11:30 am catered by the Soup Kitchen, and then by the following event:

Prof. Amand Lucas will speak on "Hydrogen, Element of Stars, Star Element".

Lucas:
"Victor Weisskopf is quoted as saying “To understand Hydrogen is to understand the whole of physics”. In this lecture I will attempt to review a few of the salient discoveries made, in the course of the 20th Century, via the study of the Hydrogen atom. It should be accessible to a broad audience as I will try to keep technical aspects as low as possible

Prof. Lucas received his Ph.D. in 1966 from the University of Liege, Belgium. Since retirement from the University of Namur, Belgium, where he taught physics, carried out research in many different fields, and lectured at numerous Universities all over the world, he has been traveling, writing and doing research with grad students. He has many interests and writes remarkably well and prolifically about them.
