Election Meeting and New Venue|
RET will hold its annual election meeting on Jan. 15 in a new venue. The negotiations pertaining to the sale of the Candy Factory have prompted us to secure new space in the short term so that we can guarantee we're not homeless. Until further notice, we'll be holding our roundtables and philosophy roundtables (or any first- and third-Sunday meetings) at the main campus of Pellissippi State Technical Community College. Directions and maps can be found at http://www.rationalists.org/activities/directions.php. The book club will remain for the time being at Barne's and Noble in Knoxville.
Members, in order to vote for the board on Jan. 15, you'll need to be sure your dues are current. If you're not sure, please ask Dave Buck or Daryl Learn Houston or email info at rationalists.org. Following the election, we'll hold some open, informal discussion about the state of RET, how wacky some things in the world and in our region are, and what RET's role in helping fix those things is. Come prepared to discuss your beefs (bring a particular discussion point if you'd like, and we'll try to get to it) and ideally to roll up your sleeves to help do something about these beefs.
Please note that the official slate for directors is as yet pretty spare. Nominations can be made from the floor. If you'd be interested in dedicating a couple of hours a month to helping run the business of RET, please secure a nomination. Please feel free to talk to me or any current or past board member about the commitment before signing up.
