PostModernism 101 RETers,
Just a reminder that Florence and Andy are presenting a roundtable discussion on PostModernism this Sunday at 10:00 in the Candy Factory boardroom.
This learning experience will be more “hands-on” than others in that you’ll actually be deconstructing some literature. Please take the time to read Sarrasine by Honore de Balzac. It’s very short, a good read, and can be found by clicking the link provided.
As you read the story, think about the meaning of the story and it’s theme(s). What does it tell us about identity, especially sexual identity? The difference between man and woman? The identity of the self?
As usual, coffee and tea are provided and a possibility of heading to lunch after the discussion!
[Note, the link is to a free, plain-text version of the story and you have to scroll down through several pages of disclaimers before you get to the actual start of Sarrasine.]
