Emeritus professor Paul Barrette of the University of Tennessee will present a talk titled “Some Varieties of Linguistics Experience”. Among the topics addressed will be the cultural role of bilingualism and multilingualism from an educational perspective.

Professor Barrette received his Ph.D. in Romance Philology at the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to serving on the faculty at the University of Tennessee, he has taught at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, the  University of Queensland  in Brisbane, Australia, and the La Université Laval in Quebec.
